Berlioz - Romeo and Juliet Part 2, Scene 1: Romeo Seul - Tristesse - Bruits Lontaines de Concert et de Bal - Grande Fête chez Capulets
Wagner - Prelude and Liebestod from Tristan und Isolde
Strauss - Tod und Verklärung op.24
In this short but intense concert, the Fidelio Orchestra will take you through some of the summits of post-romantic music. We’ll explore the way in which Tristan’s Prelude - one of the most accomplished and discussed pieces of all times - is modelled very closely on Berlioz’s monumental Romeo and Juliet. From the impossible love of Tristan, Isolde, Romeo and Juliet to the heavenly elevation of the dying artist of Death and Transfiguration, one of Strauss’ early tone poems, we’ll shed light on the dramas affecting these characters, which this music depicts so visually. All will be accompanied by a whole new selection of food and drinks, as it is standard for our large symphonic concerts.
